In recent years, flying car companies such as Archer Aviation in the United States, Lilium Aviation in Germany, and Vertical Aerospace in the United Kingdom have gone public. Major players in the aviation industry like Boeing and Airbus, multinational automotive companies such as Volkswagen, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, and General Motors, as well as Chinese automakers like XPeng, Geely, and Great Wall, have all ventured into the flying car sector. With the maturation of autonomous driving technology, the establishment of public infrastructure, and the improvement of traffic control systems, we can imagine a future where cities not only have cars driving on the roads but also flying in the skies. Transportation will develop in a multi-dimensional manner, with air traffic routes being opened up, helping to alleviate traffic congestion to some extent.

低空经济作为新的风口,我国今年3月《政府工作报告》中也提出要积极打造低空经济新增长引擎。飞行汽车,特别是eVTOL(电动垂直起降飞行器)技术,是低空经济中备受关注的一部分。而在eVTOL的研发中,风洞测试是至关重要的环节。风洞试验的主要目的是测量作用在飞机上的载荷、飞机结构周围的压力分布(尤其侧重于机翼和控制面)以及飞机周围流场的行为。风洞测试收集了关键和复杂的空气动力学数据,这些测试数据在eVTOL的设计迭代中发挥重要价值。
As a new growth area, the low-altitude economy was highlighted in China’s Government Work Report this March, which called for actively creating new growth engines in this sector. Flying cars, particularly eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) technology, are a highly anticipated component of the low-altitude economy. Wind tunnel testing is a critical aspect of eVTOL development. The primary purpose of wind tunnel testing is to measure the loads acting on the aircraft, the pressure distribution around the aircraft’s structure (with a particular focus on the wings and control surfaces), and the behavior of the flow field around the aircraft. Wind tunnel tests collect key and complex aerodynamic data, which play a crucial role in the iterative design process of eVTOLs.
